Genesis 31

Father, you are with me.  I may not understand what needs to happen or I may be afraid of the situation before me, but you are with me and will uphold me in times of uncertainty and concern.  You will support me in all of my endeavors for you.  May I be ever mindful of you and your will for my life.  Father, I thank you for your presence and commitment.  I am grateful that you have pursued me and will not stop in that pursuit throughout the length of my days.  Father, I am grateful for your presence in my life each and every day.

Genesis 26

Father, just as you did with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, so you will be with me and bless me in my life.  All nations on earth will be blessed because Abraham obeyed you.

Father, may I remain faithful to you and not be deceitful in any of my ways.  I look to you for guidance and direction.  May you direct me and guide me on my way.  May I not be afraid.

May I always see your working and blessing in my life.  May I never be blind to how you are doing a mighty work in my life.  Lord, thank you for all you do for me each and every day.

Your promise to Abraham and his children continues to be fulfilled

Genesis 25

Father, you are faithful to the promises to Abraham and his children.  Just as you have provided for Abraham, so you have provided for all my needs in my life.

Lord, may I not turn away from the birthright you have extended to me.  You have given me the most amazing of gifts, to be your child.  I pray that my life may be a prayer of that commitment I have to you.

Genesis 24

Father, you provide for all my needs in every way.  You fulfill your promises to your people.  Your covenantal love is extended to the children of Abraham.

You do a mighty work in the lives of your people.  You are faithful in doing that work.

As your people, may we not become impatient as we ‘wait’ for your to fulfill your promises to us.  You have done and continue to do a mighty work in the lives of your people.

Genesis 23

Father, may I be upright and resolute in all of my affairs.

May I never attempt to bargain with you in the working through the “details” of my life.  May I be more than willing to pay the “whole price” in every aspect of my relationship with you.  Trying to cut corners, or do something a little less than what is being requested is nothing short of pride and arrogance set against you.

Lord, help me to enter completely into my relationship with you each and every day.  Help me to be totally present to your working in my life.  Help me to keep my eyes and ears open to your presence and saving power in my life each day.

The Nature of Revelation

  • “As God’s act, revelation is the personal self-disclosure whereby He brings us actively and experientially to know Him as our God and Savior.”
  • “As God’s gift, revelation is the knowledge about Himself which he gives us as a means to this end.”
  • “Revelation as God’s act takes place through the bestowing of revelation as God’s gift; the first sense of the word thus comprehends the second.  Accordingly, revelation in the narrower sense ought always to be studied in the setting of revelation in the broader sense.”
  • “Revelation in its basic form is thus of necessity propositional; God reveals himself by telling us about Himself, and what he is doing in the world.”
  • What does God reveal himself?  “ He who made us rational being wants, in his love, to have us as His friends; and He addresses His words to us – statements, commands, promises – as a means of sharing His thoughts with us, and so making that personal self-disclosure which friendship presupposes, and without which it cannot exist.”
  • What is the content of revelation?  “…He has resolved in His love to rescue us from sin and restore us to Himself.  His plan for doing this was to make Himself known to us as our Redeemer and Re-creator, through the incarnation, death, resurrection and reign of his Son.”

Genesis 22

Father, may I not waiver in the testing I am confronted with throughout my day.  May I find strength in you and your undying love for me that will allow me to stand firm in my relationship with you.

I pray that I may not falter in my relationship with you as I did many years ago.  It was an incredibly dark time that I never want to experience again.  Lord, light my path and direct my steps in your way.

Father, it is you who will provide the sacrifice for the atonement of my sin.  There is virtually nothing I can do to atone for my own sin and my own wrong doing.  It is only through you and the saving action of Jesus Christ that I might live.

Words cannot express the gratitude of what you have done for me.  You have revealed yourself through your Son.  I now know you, because I have the opportunity to know you Son.  The darkness of all my transgressions are now brought into daylight through Jesus conquering death.  Thank you Lord Jesus.

Genesis 21

Father, you are most gracious and fulfill all your promises to me.  Your promises are fulfilled to your people.  Your are gracious and true in keeping your covenant with your people.  Thank you Father.

In the covenant, we need to do our part.  You will certainly do yours.  You are an able God, able to do your part;  gracious, kind, and just in every respect.

How able are we to do our part?  How committed will we be in maintaining our promise to you?  Can we do what you ask of us?

Try as we might, we can never do all that is asked of us.  It is though our faith, a righteous faith in you, and the grace that you have extended to us that our portion of the covenant become possible.   Yes, God has brought me laughter.  He has brought me a light heart.  One that rejoices in him and what he has done and continues to do for me.  Thank you Father.  Thank you Lord Jesus.

Genesis 19

Father, may I remain open and receptive to your instruction for me.  Please help me to not hesitate in hearing, understanding, and responding you’re your word for me.  The timeliness of that undertsnading and response can have everything to do with the outcome or results of that situation.  Lord, help me to repond to your instruction for my life.

Father, help me to not take things into my own hands in terms of driving the outcome of a situation, raising my own desires and wants above your will for me.
