Genesis 39

Father, you are with me and show me every kindness.  How reassuring it is to know that you are with me and you will sustain me at all times.

How devastating it is to have our hopes raised and then dashed.  It is such a painful thing; to be stripped of the very thing that we are clinging to.  The very thing that was sustaining us.  When that hope is stripped away, what is left?

All that we have is you.

You are our only hope.

A hope that does not disappoint.

There is nothing that can strip that hope.  You are with us and that is a certain hope.

Lord, I cannot thank you enough for remaining with me when I cast you aside years ago.  Lord, thank you for remaining with me.  Thanks for pursuing me.  Help me to remain ever aware of the hope I have in you.  There is no hope more certain than that.  A hope that does not disappoint.

Genesis 18

Father, nothing is too difficult for you Lord.  May I never question or second guess what it is you are doing in my life and in the world around me.  May I not laugh at your abilities to do a mighty work in my life.  You are an able God.  You are the God who creates me and my world anew each day.  You breathe life into the very existence of all creation each day.

All the world has been blessed by you.  May I keep your way and do what is just and right.  You are a just God; you will do what  you have promised for myself and for all peoples.

Genesis 17

Father, firm and everlasting are your promises.  It was your desire to make a covenant with humanity.  You pursued all humanity.  Because of your unending give of love and salvation through your Son.  We can walk before you faithfully and without blame.

You have done a mighty work for your people.  Thank you Lord for all you have done for me.  How can I ever question your promises?

Genesis 15

Father, may I have complete faith and confidence in you.  May I not be afraid.  You are my protector and my benefactor.  All good comes from you.

I am grateful that I am fortunate enough to be one of the recipients of the covenant promise you made to Abraham.

I am grateful for the covenant promise that is now extended to me through your Son.  In your greatness, I thank you Lord for bringing me out of the darkness of uncertainty and despair.   Thanks you for pursuing me and softening my heart to hear your word at work in my life.

Genesis 13

Father, you have given me all that I need.  I am so grateful for that.  Lord, May I be open to showing the love of peace and willingness to sacrifice for others.  May I always be willing and able to place you and others above myself.

Lord, you are the God of provision.  You have given me everything I need.  You have given me life and everything needed to live it abundantly.  May I not complain about your provision in my life, for you are a great and amazing God who has pursued me at every moment of every day.  Thanks you Lord for your patience and persistence in pursuing me.

Genesis 12

Father, may I go where you ask me.  I pray that you may help dissipate any fear I may have.

May I stand firm in my resolve to undertake all that you ask of me, even though I may not understand the things that are being asked of me.

Lord, help me to stand firm in undertaking your work.  Your promise and blessing for me is great.  May I never forget the promise you have for me.

Genesis 11

Father, may I not place my works above you.

The workings of humanity are so easy to place above you Lord.  With the intellect/reason you have given us, we have the ability to elevate ourselves above our own station by placing ourselves above you.  Our intellect, the very thing that gives us the ability to accept you and become saved is the very thing that can cause us to place idols before you.

Lord, we can make all the plans we desire, but it is you who direct our steps.  You will lead us where you desire us to go.

Abram was called from an important center of culture (of the world).  From there you asked him to leave his family which was a significant thing for someone at this point in time.  Abram risked everything to answer God’s call.  Lord, may I be able to answer the call you have made to me.  May my response be a true reflection of my devotion and love of you.

Genesis 10

Father, you are the father of all peoples.  You have a plan and your plan unfolds as you will it to even though we may not comprehend your plan.  Who are we to second guess you plan or think of our own ways of being better than yours?

Father, may we always look to your ways as being righteous.  May we never look at our ways as being better than your ways.  Father, help us to be open to and understand you will for our lives.
